CBD is popping up everywhere you go! Pharmacists, Physicians, and celebrities are directions our attention to CBD. But the big question everyone is asking is “Can I trust CBD?” You’re not alone in asking this, and as a pharmacist formulated brand, we want to help relieve the confusion and worry you have. So let’s start with the basics!

Cannabis – Where CBD comes from

CBD is short for cannabidiol, which is a naturally occurring compound found in the flower of the cannabis plant. Cannabis is a diverse plant that has many strains and varieties, including hemp and marijuana. Marijuana is any cannabis plant with a large amount (more than 0.3%) of THC. THC is the psychoactive component of the marjjuana plant that gets most users stoned. Meanwhile, hemp is classified as containing under 0.3% of THC – meaning CBD provides the main benefits from the hemp plant with no extra side effects. Understanding the distinct difference in the chemical make-up of marijuana and hemp is the best way to begin to understand how CBD works, because if you were to look at the two strains side by side, you would not be able to notice a difference.

CBD – Is is legal?

One reason why people are unsure about CBD is because they’re not sure if it’s legal. The short answer is yes CBD is legal. There are technicalities involved with CBD’s legality though. CBD is only legal as long as it is hemp derived and contains under 0.3 percent THC. This is thanks to the 2018 United States Farm Bill. While CBD is legal, that does not mean that all CBD companies are following the laws. A quick google search will reveal hundreds of different CBD brands to choose from, but this search does not come with a guarantee that they are all following the laws/policies set in place by the 2018 United States Farm Bill. Anyone consuming or considering CBD should do their research prior to purchasing, and we have compiled a list of to verify prior to making your CBD purchase.

Finding a great CBD brand
  • Ensure the manufacturer controls the process from soil to oil and uses high quality materials.
  • Verify their extraction methods.
  • Request certificate of analysis on your lot of product to verify there are no traces of THC, contaminants, toxins, heavy metals, etc.
  • Is the manufacturer making unsubstantiated claims? Manufacturers should not be claiming that CBD can cure diseases such as: cancer, infections, etc.

All of the above are critical to finding a safe and trustworthy CBD brand. At Zova we want our users to know that we are dedicated to being your trusted brand.
